Water Heater FAQs
How long does a water heater replacement take?
A standard tank swap is usually two to three hours. Converting to tankless takes longer because it needs gas line, venting and sometimes electrical work, so plan on most of a day.
How do I know my water heater is failing?
Rusty or cloudy hot water, popping or rumbling from the tank, water pooling around the base, or hot water that runs out much faster than it used to. Any water on the floor around the tank means call now, not later.
Tank or tankless: which should I get?
Tankless costs more up front but never runs out of hot water and lasts roughly twice as long. A tank is cheaper to install and simpler to service. We will lay out both for your household size and usage and let you choose.
How long should a water heater last?
Eight to twelve years for a tank, and twenty or more for tankless with annual flushing. If yours is past ten and starting to act up, replacing it on your schedule beats replacing it on a Saturday night.
Do you haul away the old water heater?
Yes. We remove and dispose of the old unit and leave the area clean.
Is a permit required?
In most Kansas City metro jurisdictions, yes. We pull the permit and handle the inspection as part of the job.
